Work of the CDB
The Board works at a number of different levels
The County Development Strategy has an action plan based on County Wexford's priority needs and assigned to a ‘lead’ agency. The lead agency is responsible for delivering on that action in partnership with other organisations. The board monitors the progress each lead agency makes with their action to improve the quality of life of the citizens of Wexford.
The Board monitors the delivery of local initiatives including;
- Economic Development Sub-Committee
- Social Inclusion Measures Working Group
- RAPID
- Traveller Interagency Group
- Sports Active Wexford
- Comhairle Na Óg
- Wexford County Childcare Committee
The Board responds to local issues and endeavors to find local solutions by sharing resources, knowledge and information. Examples include:
- Position paper on the Sugar Beet Industry
- Information Fairs for the newly unemployed in Gorey and Wexford
- Newcomers Guide to Wexford
- Bunclody Traveller Education Project
The board builds on co-operation between members to address specific local problems which require a joined up approach. The board also highlights policy issues identified at local level to relevant government departments.
