Wexford County Childcare Committee
Wexford County Childcare Committee (WxCCC) is one of 33 County/City Childcare Committees that were established throughout Ireland in 2001 under the National Development Plan 2000-2006. WxCCC was established as a limited company and is represented on the CDB and it's sub-structures. The Committee is financed by the National Childcare Investment Programme under the auspices of the Office of the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs. WxCCC acts as a key local component in the development of a co-ordinated approach to quality childcare within County Wexford. The role of WxCCC is to oversee the co-ordination, development and provision of quality accessible childcare services within County Wexford, which respond to and cater for the childcare needs of local parents/guardians and their children, and meets the objectives of the National Childcare Investment Programme 2006-2010.
Membership of the Board of WxCCC is broadly based and is reflective of key stakeholder groupings, organisations, agencies and statutory/voluntary bodies with a commitment to, and interest in, childcare development in County Wexford.
WxCCC develop an Action Plan on an annual basis which outlines the actions and initiatives which will be undertaken by WxCCC throughout the year. While WxCCC conscientiously operates under the framework of the Governments National Childcare Policy, its priority actions are driven primarily by childcare needs specific to County Wexford. As well as individual projects and actions the key activities of WxCCC include:
• The provision of support, information and advice to Childcare Providers, Childminders, Parents and anyone interested in the care and education of children (0-12years)
• Increasing and maintaining the number of childcare places within the County
• Providing childcare training for childcare providers, childminders and parents.
• Provision of a public Information Centre, located at 7 Castle Hill, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford
• Support to Childcare Network Loch Garman
