WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT

Culture is the third strand of the CDB strategy and it is an intrinsic part of the future development of
County Wexford.

In Wexford we see Culture as the generic title covering the heritage; behaviours; beliefs; and "view of the world" that make us what we are. Here, as everywhere else, "culture" and "place" are persistently
intertwined. Culture is not therefore just an "add on" to the concepts of Economic and Social development but is rather inseparable from them. Apart from its own inherent worth, activity in the Cultural area can help drive economic regeneration; can support community development; and
can tackle the social exclusion of individuals and groups.

Cultural activity can contribute in
powerful ways to:

• the economy and employment
• the image of the County
• communities' and individuals' sense of well-being and contentment
• addressing equality issues
• learning and education
• the design and environment of the places we live and interact in
• building our commitment to Wexford and to each other.

WHAT WE PROPOSE TO DO IN RESPONSE

The Cultural aspects of Remodelling the Model County will be taken forward under five Themes and
seventeen Goals as follows:
